Abstract

This proposal brings together complimentary sets of skills from UCL’s Institute of Neurology (molecular biology) and Department of Biochemical Engineering (manufacturing process design and biologic product characterisation) to create and characterise gene-modified cells that support neuronal regeneration. The multi-disciplinary partnership, spanning two faculties, will deliver controllable cell lines that can be expanded in culture, yet retain the capacity to support neuronal regeneration in a series of functional biological assays.
